Silouette Machine

Yea Yea Yea is all I can say....I finally did it.  What did I do you ask?  I ordered my Silouette Machine.  It's scheduled to be here today.  I can hardly wait.  Sad part I have stuff I HAVE to do tonight.  Dang it.  Well tomorrow is Friday night.....my night.  Can't wait.

Now some of you may ask what a Silouette Machine is. In my opinion from my limited experience it's the best machine out there.  You can print vinyl, use it to design patterns for Rhinestone studs, make printable tatoos for your kiddos, cut frabric (yes I said it...cut fabric-even interfacing) and the options are seeming endless.  How awesome does this sound?

Check back for updated photos and projects.  He he he......oh I am so excited.

Scripture Tote Bag

My 8 year old niece is getting baptized this Saturday.  She is one of those lucky girls that has everything so coming up with something to give her is difficult.  I knew I wanted it to be something that she could use outside of church as well as at church so I decided to make a bag....what girl or woman for that matter can't use a bag.  Now the challenge....I set out to make something cute but different.  I didn't want it to look like someone else's.  I wanted it to be original.  I had already decided on making it pink as she adores pink (this is evident by her BRIGHT PINK wall in her room) but the question, "what would be cute".  Off to Hobby Lobby my 7 year old went with.  After about 2 hours of looking at all the material I finally settled on a pink and brown patterned material....how cute would that be I thought?  Then I realized I had to come up with a liner.  I found a coordinating pink polka dot pattern to line the bag.  Next, I needed to accessorize but with what.....over to the lace section I went.....oh boy (oh girl) did I hit the jackpot....I found the most perfect brown flower lace type thing.....I couldn't pass it up.....so I decided YEA I found my idea......home we came and I got to work.  I first sewed the outside shell of the bag.....I laid the flower lace on the bag and thought wow so cute but something was missing.....off to my stack of mismatched material and back with several options.  After playing around a bit I came up with the perfect look (at least I think so).  I first sewed on some pink netting.  Then over the top I sewed a gathered ruffle which I made out of some left over sparkly pink material from my daughters sleeping beauty costume from 4 years ago....who says being a hoarder is bad...(wink wink).  Anyhow see the attached picture, how cute it is!!!  And  what is even more fun the larger flower is a coordinating hair clip which can be left on the bag to accessorize or can be worn in her hair, and last but not least the bag can be turned inside out for a fresh new look...(personally I like how it looks with the ruffle on the outside).  Let me say....I am not one for sewing all that much....I pretend to know how, but the technical side of fabrics, machines, stitches etc...no clue but I did it and I did it without a pattern in about 2 hours....(sewing, cutting, contemplating and so forth-not including the shopping).  If I can do it you can too.

PS Since this is my first post I didn't want to annoy anyone with the sizes and instructions but I am working up a step by step tutorial to hopefully post later on the blog.  If you are interest in it I am happy to email it to you.
